Sep ’12 – present, Xmedia Music Show

As Music Editor for Exeposé, I decided there wasn’t enough communication and cooperation between heads of Exeter University media (umbrella ‘Xmedia’), particularly between Music heads, where I felt there was the most to be gained. Resultantly I founded the Xmedia Music Show with the cooperation of our new Online Music Editors and heads of Xpression FM Music.

The panel show, largely presented by me though designed for a fluid exchange of presenters (see December’s show, Episode 6), boasts radio versions of interviews (done by Exeposé mostly), a rolling slot for listener/reader-led content, dubbed The Manic Street Feature, discussion of singles brought in by each media representative (Singles Club), the Request Challenge (leftover from Monday McLovin’), listener and reader-voted records of the fortnight and a free download selected by our team.

Aside from being a rewarding, quality bit of programming by the standards of our media, it has made cooperating between our teams much easier, and helped each frontier with, for example, seeking artist interviews (having a radio front linked with online and print copy looks appealing in emails).

  1. […] I ran a solo specialist music show 8-10pm every Monday for five months on student radio station Xpression FM. This would include about 1h of new music every week, a themed 40m mix of old and new music (‘The Miracle Mix’) and a variety of features. I compiled all the music, presented and produced some of the more intricate Request Challenges (a feature that I kept for the later Xmedia Music Show). […]
