Apr ’12 – present, Exeposé Music

UPDATED 03/04/2013 at the end of editorship

Elected Music Editor alongside Anthony Prodromou in May, our editorship took full effect after Easter, since when we have edited 11/15 issues to date. We were fully responsible for all the content and design within the section, the latter based around templates given to us by the paper’s Editor. We have been fairly creative with those basic templates though, as I hope our sections prove.

I tended to direct the content and design, finalising with Anthony what to include each week, corresponding myself 90% of the time with our contributors and a large PR network, grovelling for interviews and press passes and conducting a large share of the interviews where we couldn’t find other writers to send.

Compared to our predecessors we were much more experimental and flamboyant with design, using many more cut-outs, transparency effects and generally varied layouts from issue to issue. In terms of content, we focused on maintaining a strong base of high-profile interviews, we introduced The Firing Range (a pithy, humour-focused singles review section) and varied features according to the musical climate and season. We let the content dictate the layout, dealing with design challenges as and when we had to tackle them on the day of editing.

Here are the interviews I ran for the paper:
Festival promoters (Glade, Bloc, Leefest, Farmfest)
Three Trapped Tigers
Jeffrey Lewis
Alt-J (again, after their Mercury win)
Willy Mason
Django Django (headliners of the NME Awards Tour)

And a list of interviews we managed to run, written and conducted by others:
The Temper Trap
Dry The River
Passion Pit
Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order)
Funeral For A Friend
The Joy Formidable
Frightened Rabbit
Reel Big Fish
Robyn Hitchcock

Here is a list of issues in chronological order with main features in bold and my credits alongside in italics – for the ones we are proudest of, skip straight to the **ed issues:
